Art. Body. Desire. Identity.

KYBOR is an artist-led practice exploring perception through body and material. I draw on my lived experience with the leather culture, and the philosophy of pleasure. The work functions as a space where instinct, memory, culture, and perception can be observed interacting in real time.

  • Why KYBOR?

I aim to encourages more open conversations around pleasure and the ways we connect with ourselves and others.

  • Artist-Led

    The visual language is

    Not: “fetish graphics.”

    But: material psychology.

  • Culturally Rooted

My work is not trying to escape culture or instinct, it is examining how they shape one another. Through sustained attention to how meaning forms through perception.

  • Made With Intention

The work is made with intention around how meaning forms through material encounter.

Welcome to Kybor Carlsen Visual Artist & Designer

My work explores how the body recognises material before language. Across image, garment, and print, it examines perception, embodiment, and the tension between instinct and cultural meaning.

  • The Practice

This is not simply a store but an extension of my work. The leather, surfaces, abstraction, coded imagery, and questions around instinct are not functioning merely as subjects. They are thinking tools, ways of examining perception itself.

    Deeper Reflection about the Practice
  • Work and Series

Here you will find both artworks and design objects - fragments of the same practice in different forms. Each carries the same intent: to explore perception, embodiment, and material psychology, through image and material.

  • Reflections

I write to reflect on the same questions as my visual work. They are not explanations, but openings: glimpses into the thoughts that shape the practice. My practice is less concerned with arriving at definitive answers and more concerned with creating conditions for recognition.
